Great web design often starts with the available themes in the WordPress marketplace, but it doesn’t end there.

While most plugins offer functionality, there are the rare few that provide a site with new functionality and great design.

Take Symple Shortcodes, from wpexplorer.com.  Symple Shortcodes is a plugin that allows you to easily add a huge variety of well designed, and highly functional features to your site via shortcodes.

Shortcodes are widely used in themes, but this can be problematic if you ever decide to change themes.  If you’ve used shortcodes that are tied to a specific theme then you would need to replace all of them if you ever want to change your theme.

Depending on the amount of content you have and the number of shortcodes you have inserted, this could result in a huge problem if and when you want to change themes.
